His appearances in the World Cup are often good for the headlines, but not always because of his great results: He brought home the relay gold from the Nordic Ski World Championships in Oberstdorf, but earlier in the biathlon season, he caused the disqualification of his squad when he broke IBU safety regulations in Oberhof. The tall athlete is one of the fastest runners in the Biathlon World Cup but his hit rate at the shooting range is only 66%.

DesertFlo: Lars_Berg Hi!
Lars_Berg: Good morning

The World Championships in Hochfilzen

Einar: Will you start in the mass-start?
gasttor: Hi Lars, congratulations for your great performances in Oberstdorf. Keep on running :) Will we see you in the mass start event on Sunday?
Lars_Berg: I will not race in the mass start. The others are better than me right now.
Lars_Berg: Oberstdorf was a great experience and a lot of fun.

djnat: Lars, your forecast for the female relay please.
Lars_Berg: I hope our team will win the gold, but Russia and Germany are favorites, too.

Cross country and biathlon

Unnamed: Congratulations for the gold medal in Oberstdorf!
Katyha: Lars, what did the WCH-ski gold medal mean for you?
Lars_Berg: I know that I am not so far behind the best skaters in the world.

Wilhelmin: Lars, how can you describe your present condition? Are you tired?
Lars_Berg: I am quite tired now but hope I will recover until Khanty. I want to end the season with some success.

ali: Lars what is more important for you biathlon or cross country?
minos_Z: You have achieved a lot in skiing, but last year, you took fifth place in the Biathlon World Cup. How do you feel more – skier or biathlete?
Lars_Berg: I am a biathlete, so that's more important to me. I only do cross country when I feel fit.

Juergen_P: How do you rate the gold medal, then?
Lars_Berg: The Oberhof medal was my first and the best. But a medal in an individual competition is different from a relay medal because that's entirely your own thing and work.

Wilhelmin: What’s your favorite race? How do you like the relay (in biathlon and in cross-country)?
Lars_Berg: The cross country relay is easier because you don't have to think about the shooting. You only have to race fast.

ali: Will you combine biathlon and cross country races next season?
WilliPeng: Hello Lars, are you sure that you should combine both?
Lars_Berg: I hope I can, but we will have to see if the calendar will allow it. But I hope to race in both disciplines in the Olympics.
Unnamed: Who is your favorite cross country athlete?
Lars_Berg: That's Axel Teichmann, he's is very strong at the moment.

Bjoerndalen and other team mates

ali: Is it a stimulus for you to defeat Bjoerndalen in cross country?
Lars_Berg: I have beaten Ole Einar many times and he has in return beaten me. It's funnier to beat the cross country specialists.

Einar: What do you think about the Norwegian team? And especially about "King Ole"?
Katyha: Is Ole Bjoerndalen "the biathlon king", what do you think, Lars?
Lars_Berg: Yes, Ole is the King.

Einar: What do you think about the Norwegian junior team?
Lars_Berg: The junior team is very strong, especially the boys.

Einar: You are in good contact with the other athletes in Norway? Are you closest to Halvard?
Lars_Berg: My best friend is Halvard Hanevold. We spent about 200 days in training together throughout the year.

Juergen_P: Hanevold is much more experienced than you are. What can you learn from each other, though?
Lars_Berg: Halvard is a great shooter. So I can learn a lot from him in that regard but I can teach him skiing faster.

Juergen_P: What does he tell you about your shooting?
Lars_Berg: Halvard tells me to stay focused and do what you planned to do.

Einar: What is your position in the Norwegian team? Is it a tight battle for places in the team?
Lars_Berg: We have a strong team, so the battle to get one of the four places in the team is hard.

Other athletes

ali: Lars, What do you think about Bjoern Daehli?
Lars_Berg: Daehli is the ski king in Norway. He is our clothes sponsor; he is a business man now.

DesertFlo: What about your friends from other teams?
Lars_Berg: I talk to the Swedish guys, Carl-Johan Bergman and Raphael and Sven Fischer.
Lars_Berg: I like them but we are not close friends.

Katyha: Lars, have you friends in Russian team?
Lars_Berg: I speak to Nikolay Kruglov every now and then.

Tora

Wilhelmin: Do you train together with your sister?
Lars_Berg: No, I never train with my sister, she is too slow ;-)

Pan_Tau: How did you come to biathlon? Is it just a coincidence that your sister is also a biathlete?
Lars_Berg: My sister has always been following my tracks. We started in cross country and I tried biathlon for the first time when I was eleven. My sister is two years younger, so she followed me.

Pan_Tau: Bye Lars, more medals for you!

soccergir: Like little sisters always do...
Lars_Berg: Our parents are enthusiastic about skiing in general and they have introduced us to skiing.

Pan_Tau: What do you think about the mixed-relay? Would you like to start with Tora?
Lars_Berg: Yes, I would like to start with my sister.

Einar: Do you have bothers or sisters except Tora (who is really great this season)?
Lars_Berg: I have no other sisters or brothers. Only dogs... ;-)

Uschi Disl and his weakness

Pan_Tau: Is Uschi Disl your soul mate?
Lars_Berg: Like Uschi is running fast and shooting poorly at times?
Lars_Berg: Uschi is a happy girl.

ali: Have you ever tried to shoot more slowly in order to improve your accuracy, like Uschi Disl?
Lars_Berg: I tried it but then I shot even worse.

Tamas: What do you think about your shooting?
Lars_Berg: :-))))
Lars_Berg: I'm used to missing targets. But even if I miss two or three targets, I know I can still finish among the top ten. But I never give up.

Hobbies and holidays

simonita: What do you do in your spare time?
Lars_Berg: In my spare time I like sleeping.

Katyha: What kind of music do you like?
Lars_Berg: Before the races I like to listen to Vangelis. Otherwise I like Metallica.
DesertFlo: Vangelis??? RESPECT!!! :-)))
Juergen_P: Metallica? RESPECT!!!

olga_vip_: Would you like classic music? What about Tchaikovsky?
Lars_Berg: I listen to Edvard Grieg.
Einar: Edvard Grieg is great, for example "Morning".

djnat: Lars, do you like to read? What authors?
Lars_Berg: I don't read much but I like exciting books. Right now I read Ken Follet.

ali: How do you spend your holidays between the seasons?
Lars_Berg: Usually I stay at home with my parents and don't go on holiday.
Lars_Berg: Holiday to me is going to the mountains for a couple of days, hiking and climbing.

Miscellaneous

minos_Z: Lars, I wish to join or even create your fan club. What do you think about that? I live in Russia :))))
Lars_Berg: I don't have fan clubs. I haven't thought about it. If I don't have to invest a lot of time, then surely, I would like to.

Pan_Tau: And you have fans also in Sibiria and in Prag and in Spain!!!!
Lars_Berg: Cool!

Einar: What were your grades at school?
Lars_Berg: I was ok. On a scale where six is the best I was a grade four pupil.

ali: When did you decide to become a biathlete?
Lars_Berg: I became a full time biathlete when I was 20.

simonita: When I watched you during the warm-up in Ruhpolding, I noticed that you had something in your mouth. What was this thing for?
Lars_Berg: It's an air warmer. Cold air is the worst thing I can breathe. I get sore throats quite quickly. I use it in training every time, but never during races because I couldn't get enough air then.

simonita: Thanks Lars!
Einar: We have to meet again in Altenberg ;)
Einar: It was a great weekend!
Lars_Berg: I hope to come back to Altenberg, but I am not sure I will be there.

Pan_Tau: Lars, do you have a girlfriend?
Lars_Berg: Yes, I have a girl friend. She is studying to become a nurse.

Practice and the rest of the season

Tamas: How many hours do you practice a day?
Lars_Berg: Three hours per day in the summer, 1.5 hours per day during the season.

DesertFlo: What is your favorite race?
Lars_Berg: My favorite race is the sprint.

Unnamed: Will you start in Khanty-Mansiysk?
Lars_Berg: I will start in Khanty.

Einar: What are your goals for the Norwegian Championships? Do you think you can win anything there?
Lars_Berg: I would like to win the King's price, that's sprint and pursuit.

Lars_Berg: So, I have to go to training now and improve my shooting ... ;-)
soccergir: Good idea!
Lars_Berg: Soccergirl: :-)))

Lars_Berg: Thank you for your questions + good bye!
Einar: HA DET!
Katyha: Jeg onsker deg alt got!
DesertFlo: Bye!
Unnamed: Good Luck Lars!!!!!!!!!
Juergen_P: Bye Lars and thank you very much!
minos_Z: Bye! Thanks!
